SHAFAQNA Exclusive: The Grand Ayatollah Rouhani’s Fatwa regarding cutting the human body

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – The Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadegh Rouhani answered the question regarding cutting the human body. Please find below the Question and answer.

Question: Recently in clashes between Muslims unfortunately it has been seen that the Muslims are beheaded and their bodies are cut to pieces and the enemies of Islam publish these images which is harmful to Islam. What is the religious view on this?

The Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadegh Rouhani: Firstly those who commit such crimes are not Muslims and they are the mercenaries of the unbelievers. Secondly I must say that confronting these criminal groups and individuals and bringing them to Islamic justice and punishment is an absolute Islamic rule. Jihad is allowed in some cases even at the time of occultation such as to remove the domination of unblievers in order to save the lives of Muslims or when preventing aggression against women and children. Therefore those killed in these Jihads are counted as martyrs in this world and the next and there is no need for their bodies to be washed or shrouded before burial if the body is covered.
