SHAFAQNA Exclusive: Muslims in Indonesia are against holding Miss World competition in their country

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – Indonesian Muslims and Islamic groups held widespread demonstrations last week against holding Miss World competition in their country. According to Al-Hayat the Indonesian government has decided to hold the competition in the Bali Island where most occupants are Buddhist with heavy security being organised after Muslim groups threatened to disrupt the event. Muslims, Islamic groups, extremist groups, government ministers as well as human rights organisations have condemned such event to be hold in the biggest Islamic country of the world with Muslim population of over 240 million. The event has opened last night and will continue till 28 September.
